Morrie, artistic director of the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, arrived from Michigan on Saturday, and started right in on theatre games with our troupe. We then did a walk-through of our tengu show for him, and in the evening took him to a local musical. Sunday we had a seven hour rehearsal (with a generous picnic lunch break), during which he led more games and gave guidance to several scenes. (The gang loved group juggling and making human machines.) We had different scenes in rehearsal in three parts of the hall, so it was sort of like a three ring circus, with Morrie the ringmaster of all.
We gave him Monday off, but Tuesday will be a full day with a viewing of an elementary school musical (cast of 55). games and songs with kindergarteners, a tour of the Yamanaka-za theatre, and a sectional rehearsal for OMT in the evening. Well, Monday was off, but he helped us tweak the script with lots of great advice.
